Welcome to the Metro South CID

The Metro South Community Improvement District (formerly the Greater Conley Industrial Commercial Improvement District or GCI CID) is one of the newest CIDs in DeKalb County. As such, it is also one of the smallest in terms of revenue but it is a determined and active organization that will certainly see its income and influence expand in the coming years.

Because of its location near the Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport and along interstate highways, there is significant potential for growth. After many years of working together with the Conley Area Business Association (CABA), the organizations succeeded in creating the Greater Conley Industrial Commercial Improvement District (GCI CID) which changed its name to the Metro South CID in March of 2019.

The Metro South CID is located in the far southwestern corner of DeKalb County. Most large businesses in the CID are related to trucking, transportation, distribution and warehousing although there are others as well in the manufacturing and service categories. The western boundary of the CID is Fulton County and the City of Atlanta, the southern is Clayton County, the east is a collection of residential neighborhoods and the north is a significant amount of land ready for redevelopment.

It is the area in DeKalb County that is closest to Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport (HJAIA). It also has two interstates within the CID limits, I-285 and I-675, and is connected to downtown Atlanta by Moreland Avenue. The Norfolk Southern railroad connecting the port of Savannah to Atlanta goes through the CID. Transportation access will be a key component in the future of the area.

Because the CID is in the part of DeKalb County that is nearest the airport, there is much potential for growth. The airport continues to grow and expand shipping services, the evidence of which can be seen in properties around the airport (in the Aerotropolis) as well as in Clayton and south Fulton counties.
