Every day at public, private, charter, and parochial schools located throughout Marion County, children of all ages attend class without the most basic supplies they need to get a good education. Dedicated teachers are often willing to pay for these much needed supplies out of their own pockets to make sure the kids in their classrooms have the necessary tools to learn. On average, teachers spend $800-$1,200 a year on school supplies for their students
Teachers' Treasures, a 501c-3 organization, bridges the gap between the great need and available resources. Many businesses and individuals have a surplus of product & materials and are in need of a positive outlet to dispose of these. We provide a unique means to transfer these donated materials to teachers for use in the classrooms. Since our beginning in 2000, Teachers' Treasures has distributed over $40 million worth of FREE school supplies!
Treasures will be collected at every MPI Indiana event throughout 2016-2017. If you'd like to coordinate a donation outside of our planned collections, please contact Maria Meschi.
Hotels: Donate unused toiletries including shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body wash, and toothbrushes/toothpaste. Many children do not have the items needed for proper hygiene and, as a result, are subjected to bullying. Teacher's Treasures puts together hygiene kits for teachers to give to their students in need.
Planners: Teacher's Treasures uses reusable bags, just like the ones many of us give away at our conferences to bag the items the teachers purchase. These bags do not go to students. If you have extra conference bags hanging out in storage unit or your office, we'd love to take them off your hands!
