Board Spotlight: Joe Santoro
Joe Santoro has been a USA Pickleball board member since February 2020. He first picked up the sport in 2015 playing at the Bonita Bay Club in Bonita Springs, Florida. In the winter he spends his time playing at Veteran’s Park in Naples and June through November he enjoys playing at Foss Field in Wolfeboro, NH.
At the age of 76 Joe competed in 22 tournaments and earned 16 medals at the 4.0/3.5 skill level. Since his first tournament “debut” in 2016, Joe has earned more than 50 medals in total. He has played in every U.S. Open in Naples since its inception. READ MORE...

Happy August to all of our USA Pickleball members! July was an exciting month with the re-launch of the new USA Pickleball brand and website. A start to several new programs and activities that aim to enhance benefits and grow value for our members, partners and the pickleball community, and all part of the strategic plan to grow and develop this fun, social sport of pickleball.

Ben Rhodes Races for USA Pickleball in NASCAR Truck Series

, USA Pickleball took to the NASCAR track on August 7th at the Michigan International Raceway for the Henry Ford Health System 200. During the race FS1's commentators discussed the sport and announcer, Vince Welch shared his love for the sport with Michael Waltrip. With both of them being pickleball players, they educated the FS1 viewers about the game and Waltrip even shared that Chris Myers of Fox Sports is a huge pickleball guy.
"USA Pickleball is encouraging others to be active, get outside and play a little bit of pickleball." said Waltrip.

Junior Pickleball: An Unlikely Friendship
Before COVID-19, a Junior pickleball duo stole the hearts of all who watched at the Hawaii Open held at Holua Tennis and Pickleball Center in Kailua-Kona in Hawaii. Kylena Paredes (12 years old) and John Greenwood (a.k.a. KonaJohnny (13 years old)) earned Silver in the 3.0 Mixed Doubles Adult Division. Why is this noteworthy? Pickleball Courts with a Mighty View of Mt. Shashta
Our road to permanent pickleball courts in Mt. Shasta California (pop. 3500) was approximately a nine-year journey, starting in the spring of 2011 and culminating in the summer of 2020.
Overall, it involved working with a tennis group who’d had dedicated access to the courts for over thirty years; convincing the venue’s management that it was in their financial interest to feature pickleball as one of their offerings; learning how to repair 250 linear feet of deep and wide cracks, and finally, being lucky enough that some of our players are very goal and project oriented, and persuasive and organized leaders. 2020 Georgia USA Pickleball Ambassadors Retreat
Georgia USA Pickleball Ambassadors held their annual retreat at the Wyomia Tyus Olympic Park in Griffin, Georgia. Following all state, county and the Department of Public Health guidelines, plans were carefully made to hold the retreat. Tyus Park is a great retreat location as it has 18 dedicated pickleball courts, four which are covered for inclement weather. Several ambassadors arrived on Friday and were hosted to pickleball, pizza, and prizes, all sponsored by the Spalding County Pickleball Association (SCPA). READ MORE...
